Успешный седьмой сезон, стартовавший в сентябре 2011 года, повествует о новой странице в истории братьев Винчестеров – отважных охотников за демонами. В предыдущем сезоне герои стали свидетелями разборок архангелов, которых разделила война на небесах.

С первой серии четко виден конфликт охотников и Кастиэля, который мог легко убить их всех. Ангел получил божественную силу, что сильно повлияло на его взгляды. Охотники отделались простым предупреждением. Кастиэль начинает вершить собственный суд над миром людей, который нельзя назвать справедливым.

В самом начале противостояния показано, как Дин и Сэм решаются дать отпор бывшему собрату по оружию, призвав на помощь Смерть. Ситуация осложняется тем, что Сэм постепенно сходит с ума, ибо его душа заперта в преисподне, а Кастиэль видит каждый шаг отчаянных охотников.

Оказывается, Кастиэль стал Богом, поглотив силу существ, находящихся в Чистилище – левиафанов. Бог создал его специально, чтобы заточить их там, поскольку эти могущественные твари не давали развиваться другим творениям. Сдержать такую мощь не в силах даже самый сильный ангел, и это был лишь вопрос времени, когда они вырвутся из Кастиэля наружу. И теперь Дину и Сэму предстоит столкнуться с самыми опасными небесными творениями и уничтожить их.

Дело осложняется тем, что никто не знает, как их убить. Эти создания древнее и ангелов, и демонов. Бога нет, а союзников братьев можно пересчитать по пальцам одной руки. На фоне основных проблем братья начинают конфликтовать. Сэма мучают постоянные галлюцинации, и он постепенно теряет контроль над собой. В этой обстановке Винчестеры продолжают расследовать простые дела, чем они успешно занимаются семь сезонов подряд.

На след братьев Винчестеров внезапно нападают агенты ФБР. Героям приходится скрываться и не попадать на глаза полицейским. Решить проблемы пытается Бобби, он обращается за помощью к давнему приятелю, эксперту по слежке и работе с властями. В это время Сэм и Дин скрываются в лесах и преследуют очередного демона…

В завершении сезона, Винчестеры вновь объединяются с Кастиэлем, дабы изгнать сообщество левиафанов. И здесь начинается настоящая интеллектуальная битва между людьми и нечистью.

Теперь появился шанс раз и навсегда уничтожить левиафанов. Для этого необходимо кость праведника искупать в крови падшего ангела, короля Ада и альфа-хищника. Этот древнейший ритуал был описан на Скрижали Божьей. Кровь падшего ангела имеется, теперь необходимо уговорить Кроули дать немного своей крови, а также отыскать альфа-хищника. Оказывается, что не всех существ, которые являются первыми детьми Евы получилось истребить.

Сэм и Дин отправляются на охоту, чтобы отыскать древнего монстра. В мире остался один альфа-вампир, местоположение которого знает лишь Кроули. Винчестеры уговаривают демона помочь им, так как левиафаны угрожают не только миру, Ад тоже станет их целью, когда запасы человечины закончится.

Однако все не так просто. После того, как они заполучили кровь альфы, Сэм и Дин приходят к последним приготовлениям. Все уже есть и теперь необходимо воткнуть кость в голову главному левиафану. Несмотря на то, что Дик решил перестраховаться, поэтому окружил себя со всех сторон подопечными, он решает пойти неожиданным путем и вызывает Кроули к себе, чтобы кое-то обсудить. Вероятность смерти главного левиафана становится причиной того, что все его соратники также взбудоражены. Ведь, убивши главного левиафана, все другие тоже умрут.
